"Entertaining Angels"

#6 the saying "sucking the joy right out of life" it is not literal. It means that it seems that the Church has a problem with every single thing that makes life fun. He was mistaken because he didn't really understand the fact that their is happiness within the Church, just different types.

1. Jesus resisted and eliminated suffering- there are many stories of Jesus healing the blind and sick. 2. Jesus rejected suffering as punishment for sin- deeply embedded in the hebrew tradition is the conviction that suffering is the punishment for sin. 3. Jesus trusted a compassionate, present God- Jesus always trusted and loved God.
Interpreting a terrible death- The angry, demanding image of God sometimes appears in some focus' today. Many people don't like this image even if they don't know why. This image is much different from the one showed in the teachings of Jesus.
Jesus is not plan B- The fact that Jesus is Gods first thought can free us from the idea that God is violent. It lets us focus on Gods love.
We are taught that God is not violent or mean, but loving and understanding which is shown through "Jesus is not plan B."
